Track Seventeen from Error Supremacy. Some scales, patterns and modalities reminiscent of stuff from Deconstructing Shred.

Larry Coryell and Phillip Catherine performed a jazz tune they called “the no-booze blues.” Well, I’m finding that I have to get on the old proverbial water wagon and stay there for good. Or things will turn out very bad. So this little tune, which BTW meets a current Guitar Collective Task, is called Sansgrog, or “without grog.”
I’m in the process (always in process, doncha know) of customizing a theme for this beleaguered site. But in the meantime (or kind time, have it either way) I’m going to post a number of compositions I’ve completed over the past couple months. Some are experiments in VST instruments, others are guitar “fusion” experiments. Namaste.

A slightly spacy piece, featuring some backwards lead towards the end. The drums are canned, but lack not a bit of attitude.

Cool bop meets shred and shred takes over, with perhaps not the best of intentions. However it was fun. With apologies to the Gershwin Brothers.

This is not an endorsement of any particular brand of kettle chips, but rather my brain’s inability to come up with a compelling name for this piece. Sometimes when I go to save a file and have to create a name, I’ll just look around the room for ideas; well when I began this thing, I’d been eating kettle chips.
This is another fusion shred guitar drill in 6/8 time, 160 BPM, though it doesn’t sound like it.

The Guitar Collective task for March was to take the major chords FACE and do something with them. I did a little shredfest thingy, complete with a number of sweep picking cliches here and there.

Someone over at monohedral cathedral suggested making a fugue with the theme from Jeopardy! as the base. So that’s what I did, adding a minor section to the well-known quiz show ditty and acting as if I were the California Guitar Quartet.
A Frippy/Trippy/Dippy and definitely loopy composition with lots of faux-synth pad and diminished scales and other modal exploration. The first for an album tentatively titled “Error Supremacy.”
